i just realised something. miss goh went off last night. and i did not get to say bye. i guess the hustle and bustle of school got the better of my schedule, though i remember writing it down clearly somewhere to go see her off. oh well, whats past is past.

though i did not quite get along with her in the past 2 years, i admire her passion and fervor for teaching lit. feminist lit in particular. it was no wonder why she ended teaching lit in a girls' school. it was her that made me took hl english actually. lit was never a subject i could or will excel in and get that much-coveted A/7 pts now that i am in ib, but it was something i enjoyed and still enjoy. its nice to get a poem and hate it at first, but after analysing it, you see the beauty and the real meaning behind it and you start to appreciate it. it was her who taught me that there is no right or wrong in literature, but rather, its the way you build up your case, just like a debate, where you make your team's case "as watertight as possible".

oh well, from bonestter's daughter, i learnt something much more beyonds the mere text. how it changed my perception on mother-daughter relationships is something which i can never pen down. i am not in love in the text, rather, i am in love with the concepts and the meaning that lies behind the mere yellowed pages. my copy of BD is probably the most worn out book in my library. more worn out that sophie kinsella's shopaholic. BD is something which time and over before i go to sleep. it reminds me of the importance of appreciating my mum.

with a passionate teacher and a nice text, i fell in love with the subject. though i can never be as in love with lit as some people around me like beejuan or ian for that matter, i still like the subject. and i have to thank miss goh for it.

i sensed that tinge of pride in her during speech day when i told her i took lit at hl. it was very encouraging. the biggest pat on my back i have ever received.

i will never forget her willingness to sacrifice her weekends to discuss the text with us. and our debates in class whether ruth was silly to be with art. and whether ruth was right to challenge luling and if luling was actually really suffering from dementia. and whether the book was actually a parallel of amy tan's life. oh well, its back to the books now.

i miss the teachers in crescent. miss tan, miss goh, miss ting, mrs ow, mrs rupa, mrs leow, mr tty, miss chua, mrs gek, mr gary tan (okay, he is no longer a teacher but a vp now, but he will always be the best geog teacher in my opinion). damnit, i even miss mr phua. i miss bullying him.
